The Blackout is a collection of poetry and short stories written by spoken word performer Articulate Millington. The book itself is geared around the randomness of life, not containing page numbers or a table of contents. Readers can open the book and dive right into a thought or feeling, giving a fresh feel to every reading. The poetry ranges from simple and airy to analytical and deep. The author gives a very personal insight into his earlier years while divulging many sensitive topics in his life, from painful relationships to the passing of his grandmother to near death experiences at a young age. In a change of pace the short stories offer a glance at the writer's fictional prowess. Engaging stories allow the reader to transport themselves to another time and place. The happiness and selflessness of Crosshairs, the apprehension and tension of The Other Side of the Door, and the passion and unbridled emotion of the book's namesake, The Blackout. Everything comes together to create an exploration through the gamut of feeling and opinion up until the very end.

Just received my copy not too long ago and was unable to put it down until I finished. The poetry was thought provoking, sometimes playful and other times serious and deep. The short stories were nothing short of amazing. I loved the family aspect of ‘Crosshairs’ with its Christmas setting. ‘Yesterday’s Promise’ and ‘Selfless’ had me on the verge of tears. The passion displayed in the namesake of the book, ‘The Blackout’, was overwhelming. I would recommend this book to any poetry or short story lover. It’s a wonderful read and I can’t wait to see Articulate perform in person!Product details

If you haven't decided on what to read, look no further! The blackout is where you should start. These stories will keep you wanting more. A page turner from begining to the end! Erotic, Exciting, and filled of Emotion!
A friend recommended for me to pick this up and read it. I found that this book is a beautiful collection of poems and short stories. I haven't been able to put this book down since I've bought it! Love this author and will defiantly recommend to friends and family to pick this up and buy one for themselves to read! It was very well written and very interesting! Looking forward for more books from this author in the future! 👍
I am an avid reader, and sometimes I like to take a break from the Balzacs, Murakamis and Sedaris' of the world to delve into amateur works and see what's new on the market. I purchased this book after seeing the author perform in NYC to look into more of his work If you've loved deeply and hurt, or if you've desired, there are a lot of raw emotions that will resonate withing reading the majority of these writings. I I was expecting poetry, but there are also stories, several of which really grabbed me - see 'Interesting Turns'. 'Yesterday's Promise' broke my heart. Overall, a good read. Author says a second book's in the works, short novel, can't wait to see more of his prose work, definitely enjoyed what I read in the Blackout.
I'm gonna give you a 3 until you figure out the epub formatting. Can't even enjoy the book, which I know I will because you're an excellent writer. Now hire a graphic designer for help on your epub formatting 😉
I started this book 10 P.M. and continued to finish it at 3 A.M. I couldn't put it down I can't wait till the Author puts out another book, Start the book be prepared not to put it down. Well written and well Balanced. Loved it.
I bought this book and could not put it down. One moment I am smiling as I come across a passage that brings back memories from my own experience. Another moment I am caught up in the grips of an emotion wondering what the character will do next, what will be the outcome, how will it end. I am actually saying to this unknown character, please don't take that path, its not worth it. I'm in the story and living every moment. This is truly a wonderful read. Yes I would recommend this book.
I have been an avid reader and collector of books all my life, but there are few I can say I would read more then once. The Blackout falls high on this short list. I found myself thrust into the depths of this book to the point of letting dinner burn. Have a tissue close, or in my case many, some for the insight into my own soul, some for the light laughter of brilliance. I recommend The Blackout for anyone who loves emotion. Throw caution to the wind and let yourself become wrapped up in this book which offers a bit of everything we all need. Waiting with anticipation for the next book from Articulate Millington.
